How the WHO Stole Christmas

Every Who down in Whoville liked Christmas a lot.
But the World Health Organization did not.
This WHO hated Christmas, “A big super spreader.”
It warned that people should not get together!

“COVID will spread like holiday greetings,
So stay in your homes, avoid merry meetings.
“Do all your shopping with Amazon Prime,
And have gifts delivered for just this one time.”

But they learned every Who down in Whoville beneath,
Was busy now, hanging an evergreen wreath.
“And they’re hanging their stockings!” they shouted with fear,
“We have to stop Christmas from coming this year!”

While Whos were all hunkered inside of their homes,
Still laughter and joy, celebration arose.
Yes, Christmas still came, despite the containment,
The experts were stumped, they couldn’t explain it!

They hadn’t stopped Christmas from coming! It came!
Somehow or other, it came just the same!
It came despite masks, despite social distance,
It came despite bans and legal resistance.

Then the WHO thought, “Wow! This really surprises us!
Christmas can’t be stopped by corona virus.”
No, Christmas isn’t about office parties and gifts,
Or family meals or events such as this.

It comes from the joy of the Savior’s birth.
It comes from the heart, with goodwill to the earth,
“Fear not” angels say in their dazzling light,
“Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
