A Prayer for Oso

by Greg Asimakoupoulos

Posted: March 30, 2014

Calling on the Creator for those impacted by the mudslide…

O Lord, be near that little town
now buried underneath the ground.
They lift their eyes unto the hills.
Where will their help come from?

God, grant the grieving grace to trust
as searchers sift through mud and dust
while undermined by weather woes
and overwhelmed by time.

Assist those working 'round the clock
who dig through rubble, sand and rock
intent on finding those who died
who didn't stand a chance.

Be near the families who now face
the dreaded news for which they've braced.
Give pastors who must speak for You
the words to ease their pain.

And for a stunned community
blindsided by this tragedy,
I pray that they will turn to You
acknowledging their loss.

Lord, have mercy!
