Dreams and Visions
Posted: March 7, 2010
My poem, “Dreams," was the result of a visit to the doctor’s office…
“There are three things that are never satisfied, four things never say, “It is enough”….the barren womb….”

My poem, “Dreams,” was the result of a visit to the doctor’s office. What he said was, “Because of a malformation of your uterus, you will probably never be able to conceive.” What I heard was, “You were designed to be barren.” How could I say “Yes” to any man, knowing that I would rob him of the privilege of fathering his own children? God’s Word makes it clear that barrenness is no problem for Him, but I am hardly in the league of Sara, Hannah, an Elizabeth! I can hear Elisabeth Elliot saying, “Find in it material for sacrifice.”
DREAMS

When I was young I dreamt of great romance,
Someday the valentines would be for me,
The sweetheart roses, evidence that he
Does love me! Finally, my chance

 To be a woman—husband, children, home….
Alas! I was still dreaming on the stair.
Their lives are filled with answers to my prayer
Their lives are real; mine is just a poem.

I’m standing on the outside looking in
To life- face pressed against the glass to see
Delicious chocolate sweets not meant for me.
Is this the consequence of all my sin?

Oh no, my child, I know what’s best for you ---
Trust Me, and let MY dreams for you come true.
