It's That Time Again

It’s time to turn our clocks back by one hour…

We gain an extra hour
come this Sunday morn at two.
An extra 60 minutes in our day
to catch up on our reading
or to help a friend in need
or maybe use that extra time to pray/

This autumn task (like clockwork)
finds us dancing with our hands
so that the break of day’s a bit more bright.
Gaining time’s a lot more welcome
than when losing it in spring
while in Congress time-change laws remain a fight.

Falling back and springing forward
many love and many hate.
It’s a time-honored tradition marked by stress.
What began to aid the farmers
makes less sense than way back then,
but I love the extra hour nonetheless!
