We call it the Fall Classic
of which the “boys of summer” dream
while proving they’re the best at what they do.
When the training done in springtime
seems worthwhile after all,
the teams clad in their cleats become but two.
It’s the Super Bowl of baseball.
It’s the World Cup of the bats.
It’s the series of which all the world takes note.
It’s the best of seven victories for the two best teams at play
who are hoping in the end they’ll be the G.O.A.T.*
