Too Many Pills?

Heed the warnings!…

I've written before about pills for pain and memory enhancement and their pros and cons. Admonitions about the use, abuse, banning and acquisition should be heeded rather than ignored.

Two lengthy emails found their way into my computer extolling the use of foreign pills with powerful benefits for pain and memory made with all-natural ingredients. However, the argument was that none of these pills have been approved for use in the U.S. I read the very long article to view its virtues, safety and discovered that the pills availability is primarily on these two websites.

Then another advertisement arrived recommending a banned pill which had been reclassified and is back on the market. The ad said Major pharmaceutical companies are in chaos because they have zero control over what scientists are saying about this specially formulated mix of (four named drugs) and several other special ingredients. This pill is not only on college campuses, but also in the media. Sales tripled overnight as students, athletes, entrepreneurs, and business executives all wanted to get their hands on this pill now reclassified. The internet is very influential in ways good and bad..

Available mostly on online with its almost unlimited advertising, blogs and impressive testimonies, bypassing legal restrictions, pharmaceutical firms, pharmacies, physicians and mercantile establishments, dangerous and approved pills tempt the public in various ways.

Here is the ad's final word: Don’t just take {our} word for it though; this is something you need to experience for yourself. Warning: use as directed if you think you can handle these effects. If?

Pills do find a way to become available yet some are still unavailable with safe natural ingredients which is unfortunate. There is the need to assume that not everyone is always wise (well-advised, prudent, informed or advisable) and in a pill-booming culture, precaution (warning, admonition and forethought) should be in everyone's vocabulary.

Does the public have any idea of the widespread of the use (and abuse) of pills? Top 10 Abused Prescription Drugs: OxyContin ... Xanax ... Vicodin ... Suboxone ... Adderall ... Valium ... Percocet. ... Ambien. Trafficked drugs e.g: Oxycontin: $50 to $80 on the street, $6 sold legally. Here are some sobering quotes:

One company issued 1,106 recalls last year following the FDA's inspection of its facility. . . . Drug makers, facing intense competition, are trimming manufacturing investment or outsourcing production. . . . Over four billion Prescriptions filled in 2011. . . . The average person over 65 now uses seven different medications per day, four prescribed and three over-the-counter. . . . One Patient, Many Doctors. . . . More than one-third of prescription drugs used in the US are taken by elderly patients . . .

Too many unaccountable pills, makers, users and wrongdoers? You be the judge. . . and heed the warnings!.
