Ever notice how creative kids are? By the time we reach adulthood, that creative spark is virtually extinguished. But the joy of creativity often emerges again in the second half, especially after retirement. Spur your own creativity as you read the examples. The title of this section, Rhymes & Reasons, is borrowed from a weekly feature on The Partial Observer by Greg Asimakoupoulos, who describes his verse as "political cartoons comprised of word pictures. I intentionally incorporate hyperbole into my word-play in order to provoke discussion or to make a point." |

Sunday Rhymes and Reasons is a compilation of inspirational poetry by America's pastor/poet laureate, Greg Asimakoupoulos. In this, his third volume of poetry, Pastor Greg paints word pictures that portray both the struggle and fulfillment that define a life of faith. His repertoire of rhymes celebrate rite-of-passage occasions like birth, baptism, marriage and death as well as the major holidays of the church and culture. It is a volume that illustrates the poet's love of words and of popular culture. The author dips his brush into a paint box of hubris, humor and honesty. “Gloria and I have been encouraged by word pictures from Greg's pen that have celebrated both our ministry and God's presence in our world.” |

A collection of Greg's finest and most memorable poems from the Rhymes & Reasons archive on The Partial Observer website, conveniently categorized for the first time. Greg's poetic commentary on the news of the day is typically poignant and clever. (We post Greg's pieces on SeniorLifestyle a few days after they have appeared on The Partial Observer). "My friend Greg Asimakoupoulos communicates timeless truths through timely rhymes. His little poems pay big dividends — in wit, insight and inspiration." |
